Steamed snapper with butter white wine sauce in parchment paper – tres francaise
The tender fish in simple sauce, eaten with steamed vegetables, so healthy.
Another 1-for-1 deal that got our curiosity piqued.
First time here, and during peak dinner time, no indoor table was available, so we were seated outside overlooking ION Orchard, ain’t bad really.
Gratin salmon in mushroom cream sauce
The gratin salmon was served with three slices of toasty & soft bread – the best part of the dish really. Dish itself was alright, under seasoned.
Oh yes, Robert Timms was liberal about the 1-for-1 policy, you do not have to be there in even numbers, hence we had this fourth dish as our side dish among three of us.
Stout braised kangaroo S$26.90++
High protein, lean and virtually non-fat kangaroo meat was healthy tasting. The butter puff pastries atop were really good.
Too bad the root vegetable chunks weren’t braised together with the meat, which ended up with very crunchy texture.
Chocolate Banana Frapuccino S$7.50++
The guys always like this kind of blended drinks.
Too bad, it turned out very disappointing. No banana taste, weak chocolate taste, weaker coffee taste and very watered down.
Better spent at Starbucks and the likes.
I’d say their hot coffee range is their forte.
Even though Robert Timms offers a great selection of desserts – sticky date pudding, strawberry pavlova and etc…
But each is about S$14++ onward, which drove us away searching for a dessert specialty shop.
Overall, savoury dishes here were passable. Current 1-for-1 is worth taking advantage of exploring their mains.
I’d definitely recommend their hot coffee like latte or cappuccino which always come with cute coffee art.
Dessert at Brunetti – macaron at S$2.25 each
And we ended up here after walking off bits of the dinner.
Macarons were as good, however, the shell textures were not consistent.
I had hard crunchy cookie texture on the vanilla macaron shells, requested to change, and was replaced with another one of the same.
Brunetti – Italian Hot Chocolate S$6.50
Finally, the dinner was ended with a luscious thick dark hot chocolate. Great.
Pricing wise, I noticed all the prices of the cakes and tarts are up to S$8 onward.
Their popular cheesecakes are priced at S$10 from S$7.50 just a few months back.
Somehow, this dessert trip was lack lustre.
