Crystal Jade Palace (SG)

the dim sum spread

During Saturday peak lunch hour – 1pm, with a booked table, we had 8 dishes among two of us.

And the order was …

Har Gow (Steamed Prawn Dumplings) – bouncy & juicy filling, stretchy thin skin on the outside

Fried Wonton with sweet and sour sauce (the fried pile in the picture above) – we were dumbfounded by this wonton sheet style, it was nice to share among at least 4 persons instead of just two of us

Braised ee-fu noodle in crab roes and crab meat – weak stock, plain tasting, very little crab meat

Deep fried yam croquettes – crunchy on the outside, mushy yam paste and flavourful mince meat inside, served only warm not piping hot

Deep fried spinach and century egg rolls – robust combination inside

Deep fried honeydew and prawn rice rolls – interesting combination, instead of typical mango shrimp rolls, it was alright

Har Cheong (Steam Prawn Rice Rolls) – average

Baked egg tarts – mini size, golden silky smooth custard

the other half of dim sum spread

The sweet and sour sauce served in a large oval bowl for the deep fried wonton sheets, was surprisingly ok.

S$64 over a dim sum lunch for two was not as fantastic as Crystal Jade Dining In experience (also cheaper).

Oh, NO custard buns here!

Probably we didn’t order the right dishes, maybe their cooked dishes are better.

For now, I’m not keen to be back.

Service crew was ok, the ones in black uniform were not enthusiastic, the ground crew in white doing the ‘dirty jobs’ are more diligent.
