Located on level 2 inside Triple One Somerset building, you will find a casual and fuss free comforting Japanese restaurant.
Light sesame based dressing on the fresh roman lettuce leaves served with tender slices of char shu (Japanese char siew as you know). Just the right size for a healthy lunch or as an appetiser.
The charshu sauce was subtle, pork slices were pretty tender.
Gyoza skin was pan fried with some crisp, it could be better if seared longer for a more fragrant and crunchier outer skin.
Thick slabs of cold sashimi slices were ok too.
A comfort dish nonetheless.
Fairly tasty milky miso based soup and chewy noodles. Good to have semi runny yolk and was served with four big chunks of karaage atop.
The beef slices were just nice, not too fatty nor lean.
I think the accompanying marinade needs improvement on building a deeper flavour.
Granted Menya Kyo just opened at Triple One Somerset and Bugis Junction for about two weeks.
They are offering second ramen at 50% with other dine-in deals as well.
