Menya Kyo (SG)

around the shop and the friendly manager Jack

Located on level 2 inside Triple One Somerset building, you will find a casual and fuss free comforting Japanese restaurant.

Menya Kyo Salad S$7.80++

Light sesame based dressing on the fresh roman lettuce leaves served with tender slices of char shu (Japanese char siew as you know). Just the right size for a healthy lunch or as an appetiser.

Char Su S$6.80++

The charshu sauce was subtle, pork slices were pretty tender.

Vegetable Gyoza S$6++ (6 pcs)

Gyoza skin was pan fried with some crisp, it could be better if seared longer for a more fragrant and crunchier outer skin.

Salmon Sashimi S$7.50++

Thick slabs of cold sashimi slices were ok too.

Ebi Curry Rice S$11.50++

A comfort dish nonetheless.

Karaage Miso Ramen S$14.20++

Fairly tasty milky miso based soup and chewy noodles. Good to have semi runny yolk and was served with four big chunks of karaage atop.

Yakiniku DOn S$9.80++ served with miso soup on the side

The beef slices were just nice, not too fatty nor lean.

I think the accompanying marinade needs improvement on building a deeper flavour.

Granted Menya Kyo just opened at Triple One Somerset and Bugis Junction for about two weeks.

They are offering second ramen at 50% with other dine-in deals as well.

If you want a quick food pit stop during Great Singapore Sale, it’s worth dropping by here to check out the short & sweet menu tagged with reasonable pricing.
