Som Tam Nua (Bangkok)

Along a small lane, just outside of Siam Square

I have seen and heard so much about Bangkok being a shopping destination and a food paradise, easily within most working crowd’s mean.

Som Tam Nua is one of the top eateries trending in Bangkok, among locals and visitors for a tasty and reasonably priced meal.

Som Tam literally means papaya salad in Thai.

A menu dedicated to just papaya salad, and a range of other side dishes

I shall be back here soon to try out other papaya salad creations and side dishes.

The young papaya strips here were so green and crunchy.

Their killer salad dressing was sweet, sour, salty and everything nice!

I thought they have toned down the amount of chopped cili padi to suit visitors, because I was expecting to see loads of them,

as I have seen on some recent travel show featuring this very shop.

Fried chicken wings (Small) 98 THB

From my research, they raved about these addictive fried chicken wings.

We loved it.

The coating was crispy enough and heavily seasoned with ginger, fried garlic and aromatics.

Need I say more about this combination? Match made in heaven! Best eaten with sticky rice served in a bamboo container.

Guess what!

They have just set up another branch at newly re-open Siam Center (right across from Siam Square and Siam Paragon).

Better lighting and decor, but I do not know if the pricing at this new branch would be higher too.

Address:392/14 Soi Siam Square 5, Rama 1 Road (another branch at Siam Center)
Open daily: 10:45 a.m.-9.30 p.m
