Sights in Penang, Malaysia

Overlooking the Gurney Drive from the hotel room at 39th floor!

Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I would like to share the last travelling post of the year – Penang.

Eats in Penang will be published by early 2014, stay tuned for that!

Used to be known as the Pearl of Orient, now part of the Penang Island is awarded with Unesco heritage title.

Gurney Drive at night.
At the outdoor swimming pool at Gurney Resort and Hotel.
Blue Mansion intro…
Blue Mansion exterior, we missed the opening time and hence couldn’t go onto the tour.
Refurbished house as hotel along Love Lane.
The interior of one of the knick-knack shops along Love Lane.
The Christmas decord inside Gurney Paragon.
Random street shot.
Iconic Komtar building in the background…heritage houses along the lanes.
Locally handmade rattan furniture.
One of the popular murals at Armenian Street…
Interior of a shop just at the tip of Armenian Street serving cendorl, assam laksa and the likes…cashing in on tourists really but food is pretty decent.’
More murals spotted inside a locked out space.
More murals.
Interesting one met by random, apparently this one was painted in Johor Bahru but got banned, now it reappeared in Penang – about thief (right) and a woman being robbed (left).
Somewhere near Little India.
Exterior of an old temple met by passing.
Another temple.’
A trishaw caricature spotted!

Suggest list of to-dos:
1. Murals and caricature spotting
2. Penang hawker food
3. Chew Jetty – cafes dotted in the vicinity along Beach Road (Lebuh Pantai)
4. Penang Hill via tram up – nearby Air Itam market for original assam laksa – Kek Lok Si temple
5. Gurney Drive hawker food stretch
6. Bike rental / walking tour  to visit Unesco historical sites
